Client: Sapcote Parish Council

Site Name: Donkey Lane, Sapcote, Leicester, LE9 4FB

Site Type: Mixed-use Commercial

Services Provided: Great Crested Newt eDNA Survey

Due to the site being suspected of containing protected habitats and protected species, it was required for our Great Crested Newt eDNA Survey to be completed by a Natural England Licensed Ecologist to assess potential constraints and inform the development process.

The purpose was to ensure that the presence/likely absence of GCN at the development site was understood so as to inform any necessary avoidance, mitigation or compensation strategy and to ensure planning permission was gained for the client.

A negative GCN eDNA result was returned for the pond on-site, meaning the absence of this species could be assumed. This allowed the proposed development to continue with no mitigation or compensation strategy required.

Planning consent was secured on first submission as the Local Planning Authority granted planning permission with conditions to Sapcote Parish Council.
