Business Development Manager

About Us:
At Elton Ecology Ltd, we are a leading ecological consultancy dedicated to providing expert environmental solutions to planners, developers, councils and NGOs across England. Our mission is to support sustainable development by delivering high-quality ecological assessments and environmental consultancy services. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Business Development Manager to help drive our business forward, build new client relationships, secure long-term public sector contracts, and lead marketing initiatives to recruit top talent.

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented individual to join us as a Business Development Manager. In this vital role, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, including expanding into new markets and developing client relationships. You will also lead the tendering process to secure key ecological consultancy projects and manage marketing campaigns aimed at attracting new clients and recruiting skilled professionals to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the ecological sector, including new markets, potential clients, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop strategies to expand our reach and successfully capture new business, with a focus on ecological services.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with new and existing clients, understand their ecological needs, and develop tailored proposals.
  • Pitch our ecological services to both new and existing clients, ensuring they understand the value we bring to their development projects.
  • Conduct market research to monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.

Client Relations

  • Maintain and develop relationships with current clients, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term collaborations.
  • CRM management
  • Attend industry conferences, environmental events, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, such as ecological and arboricultural consultants, to ensure that client requirements are met with exceptional service.

Sales and Forecasting

  • Create sales forecasts and actively work toward achieving targets, contributing to the overall growth and success of the consultancy.
  • Work towards and exceed sales targets, reporting regularly on KPIs and market developments.

Tendering and Bid Management

  • Lead the preparation and submission of quotes, tenders and bids, with a particular focus on securing frameworks in the ecological space.

Marketing Campaigns

  • Either independently or in collaboration with external marketing agencies, lead digital marketing campaigns, engage with clients across social media platforms, and leverage CRM and automation tools to keep our pipeline thriving.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns that highlight our expertise in ecological consultancy and attract new clients.
  • Manage digital marketing, social media strategies, and traditional campaigns to enhance the visibility of our brand and services within the environmental sector.

Recruitment Marketing

  • Work closely with the rest of the team to create marketing strategies aimed at attracting talented professionals with expertise in ecology and arboriculture.
  • Lead recruitment campaigns to ensure our team grows in line with business needs, focusing on hiring the best ecological consultants and support staff.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience within a Business Development or Marketing role (experience in the environmental sector is not essential).
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, and/or marketing.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop growth opportunities within the ecological sector.
  • Expertise in developing and executing marketing campaigns, either independently or in collaboration with external marketing agencies.
  • Experience in recruitment marketing and attracting top talent is desirable.
