Services Provided: Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA) and Arboricultural Method Statement, Biodiversity Net Gain Report (BNG)
An Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Arboricultural Method Statement were required to support planning and outline tree protection measures. A BNG Report showing a 10% gain was also needed, leading to the involvement of our ecological team.
The Arboricultural Impact Assessment identified all 14 trees and hedges on-site as moderate or low quality, with three trees and one group rated moderate, and nine trees and one group rated low. Only part of one hedge was required to be removed for the new drive-through access, The loss of this hedge was mitigated through replacement planting suggested by Elton Ecology.
Elton Ecology’s BNG Report demonstrated that the site can deliver a 14.43% Biodiversity Net Gain in habitat units through native tree planting, and a 16.89% net gain in hedgerow units through species-rich native hedgerow planting. This meant that a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain was achieved within the development through the recommendations from Elton Ecology avoiding the need for the client to purchase off site biodiversity units.
The Peterborough City Council ecology consultee and tree officer commented on the planning application, advising that the BNG solution and Arboricultural Impact Assessment was acceptable, raising no objections meaning that the development could continue in line with the recommendations made by Elton Ecology.
Planning consent was secured as Peterborough City Council granted planning permission with conditions.
