Termed a Preliminary Bat Roost Assessment (PBRA) in accordance with best practice survey guidelines, this survey technique is often also referred to as a Bat Scoping Survey, a Bat Building Assessment, or a Daytime Bat Survey.
Preliminary Bat Roost Assessment (PBRA)
A PBRA comprises an Elton Ecology Natural England bat licensed surveyor making an external and internal inspection of buildings (or other structures) recording potential bat roosting features and any evidence of bats found. This is aided by an endoscope where required to search accessible crevices for the presence of bats. The building may be confirmed as a bat roost or will be categorised for its potential to support roosting bats (negligible, low, moderate and high), which will inform the need for further nocturnal survey effort if required.
We offer a wide range of bat solutions including surveys, mitigation design, reporting, and Natural England licence applications.
